compressor cooling..compr. fan ok...replaced defr t-stat. evap.coils will cool and frost up but evap.fan will not run.tested for 120v at fan leads and there is no voltage.defrst t-stat is brand new. disconnected temp control and tested continuity of switch and will open and close on ohm meter. tested yellow lead from temp control to evap fan and has continuity.there is 120v on wires behind temp switch but still no a/c at fan. what route does the voltage take to reach fan from temp control
lights will turn off/on on both sides when activated. two techs have said it simply is the defrost t-stat but that didn't fix problem. any new ideas!! ![]() model# is 596.50692001 Last edited by finreef; March 1st, 2009 at 04:09 PM.. Reason: list model # |

Hi,
Kenmore doesn't provide online wiring schematics, so I'm unable to help you with that. Ohm that defrost thermostat for continuity while its frosty and tell me what you get, it should be closed(continuity). Also ohm your freezer fan motor for continuity. Unplug your refrigerator first before doing the ohm test on both components. Jake

i placed ohm meter leads across fan motor leads and could not get continuity thru fan. this is the proper way to test the fan isn't it? if so, i'll replace fan motor asap!! thanks

Yes, thats the proper way to test the evaporator fan motor, so that would mean your evaporator fan motor is bad.
Now they make 2 different ones for your model. Whats the serial# of your refrigerator? Here's the evaporator fan motor for your model that they used through June 2000(serial# prefix 0006): Manufacturer's Number: 10513803 Here's the evaporator fan motor for your model used from July 2000 through present(serial# prefix 0007): Manufacturer's Number: W10189703 Jake
