Kenmore 790.96423402 - EOC Popping
Good evening - first post and glad to be a member.
I have a Kenmore 9642 range and the EOC is giving a popping noise every couple of minutes (5 or 10) and it appears to be at random intervals. The clock area will blip a little bit from what I suppose is a voltage spike in the EOC causing the other cathodes to light up.
So, I assume this is a short somewhere but the EOC itself is not giving any errors.
The range is about 4 years old and is new to me - I recently bought this house.
Should I go straight for a EOC, hire a tech to repair... or waiting until it either quits working or melts the face plate off?

Hi Benjamin,
Yes, you will need a new EOC.
Here's the EOC for your model you can order:
Manufacturer part number 316452307 is RepairClinic item number 1157499
316452307
Its fairly easy, first thing to do is remove the original faceplate from your EOC, it just peels off, then line it up and put it on the new one.
But first you have to pull your range out from the wall, then take off the back console access panel, then unmount it, should be 4 screws holding it in.
Turn your breaker off or unplug your range first!
Write down on paper were the wires go, the wire connections should be the same on the new one.

Thanks - how long should these last? I suspect the warranty for this item has expired.

The warranty is 1 year.
These should last a long time, but just like anything else it can give out alot sooner just out of the blue.
