Hello,
I was wondering if you could help me with my refridgerator problem. The freezer seems to be working fine, but the refer side is not as cold. I've read some of your similar threads and it does seem like it would be the defrost timer and/or the heater element. My model number is 363.9731785 and the coils behind the freezer panel was completely and evenly frosted (white snow). Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you, Carlton |

Hi Carlton,
![]() Pic from Appliance411 Your defrost timer is located inside your refrigerator section in the back where your temperature control knobs are at. Its #648 here: http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/10039520-00006.png You would need to pop-off the little button#306 then you can put a flathead screwdriver in there and turn it clockwise slowly and see if your refrigerator comes on again. Give it some time to see if your defrost heater thats located underneath the evaporators coils in the freezer come on. Here's the defrost timer for your model: Manufacturer's Number: WR9X520 Let me know what happens, then we will go from there. Jake

Hey Jake,
If the defrost heater does not come on, what would be the better/easier way to check to see if it is bad (Visual or by an ohm meter...)? Thanks again, Carlton |

Your defrost heater is the black calrod type, so you would need to ohm it with an ohm meter, normal ohms on that is 11-30.
Also ohm your defrost thermostat(while frosty), it clips on the top of your evaporator coil in the freezer. That should read 0 ohms. Usually I find the defrost thermostat bad if the defrost heater doesn't come on when you turn the defrost timer into the defrost cycle. Here's the defrost thermostat for your model: Manufacturer part number WR50X129 is RepairClinic item number 304837 WR50X129Jake
