Default [FIXED] Kenmore Laundry Center Won't Hold Water..

Kenmore laundry center (417.99570100) won't hold water when filling up.

It's not the height of the drain hose.

Any thoughts?

Then were is the water going? If it drains will its filling and the water pump isn't running then it has to be the height of your drain hose is to low, or you don't have an air gap to stop it from siphoning out.

Jake,

The reason I say it isn't the height of the drain hose is because the washer has been on the same drain for 10+ years, with no problems.

Some times the washer will complete its cycle with no problems, but other times it will fill half way up, or even completely fill up and suddenly the water starts to drain.

Thanks for your reply.

Just out of the blue,, could the drain be starting to clog(and is just doing it intermittenly) and this would cause the water to siphon?

Only if it had no air gap where the drain hose goes into the drain standpipe. I've seen lots of people duct tape the drain hose to the drain standpipe, thats a big NO-NO. No air can get in to break the siphon.

Problem solved.

Jake, you hit the nail on the head.

I would like to blame the duct tape on the drain standpipe on my wife, but i'm going to man up and admit that I was the culprit.

Thanks guys.

Excellent Doughboy526, good job finding that was the problem.
