Question WASHER AND DRYER AT SAME TIME Kennmore -417.83042201 & 417.43042200

When it rains it pours, I have had this set of kennmores for around 4 yrs. I do have 3 children so we do alot of wash. I am just frustrated with the issues that are happening at once.
We just noticed today the Dryer is making a squeking sound and is not spinning, hence not drying. I think it is still heating fine, but i manually spin the drum and it seems to be rubbing in a spot. I am sure this is a Bearing, but i wanted to see if you can send me the link to repair and what parts i need. Also, if you feel it is worthwhile. Not a lot of xtra cash right now.

Then the washer is leaving a puddle of water in the bottom of it when it is done with the spin cycle. Is this a pump problem on these front loading washers? What should I do?

Thanks!!!

Hi,

What year are these 2 models? If you don't know you can post the serial# and I can tell you.

For the dryer you will need the repair kit:
Dryer preventative maintenance kit 1992 – 2001
Manufacturer part number 5304461262 is RepairClinic item number 1261075

Dryer preventative maintenance kit 2002 and up
Manufacturer part number 5304457724 is RepairClinic item number 1198622

For your washer, you'll need to take the bottom access panel off and get a flashlight to see where the leak is coming from while its running.

If the leak is coming from the middle tub seal, thats a big job to change it.

Let us know what you find.

Jake

Default Thanks so much.

I ran the washer empty last night to check and all of the water drained... Not sure why the last couple of times it has not drained properly with clothes in it.

The dryer serial # is xd33602883 - That should give me the yrs for both, since they are the same age.

Is the dryer kit easy to replace? I am moderately skilled in repairing things.

Thanks so much for your help! I will order parts once you tell me the year. Thanks!

Thanks,

They were made in 2003.

Yes, the dryer parts are fairly easy to replace. Jeff explains how to take your dryer apart here to change those parts:

Just make sure you unplug your dryer first before opening it up.

For the washer, it would be a good idea to put a normal load in and check for leaks, especially during the final spin cycle.
