Default [FIXED] Clicking Noise

Hello. I have a 2007 Kenmore side by side refrigerator model 106.57032602.
In the past few weeks I've noticed that the refrigerator has begun making a clicking, then a humming, restarting or recycling noise that runs for about 4 seconds, stops, and begins again for about 4 seconds.
It does this repeating, clicking noise for about a two minutes and then stops. It does this a few times a day. The clicking noise is coming from the top inside part of the refrig near the temperature controls. The fan noise is coming from the freezer area.
The fridge and freezer seemed to be working fine until this morning when the fridge didn't seem as cold as normal.
I have read that a lot of these clicking noises come from a bad relay near the compressor. This seems to be coming from the inside, top of the refrig side near the temp controls.
Hope this helps with the diagnosis.

Hi,

It sounds like your adaptive defrost control board is bad, its #6 here:
http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_pn...4020-00010.png
Its in the temp. control console.

#25 trim just un-snaps, don't worry you won't break it. Get a flathead screwdriver and just pry at a corner then it all will un-snap, and the screws are underneath it.

There should be 2 screws in front and 2 screws underneath that come out and the console with drop down a bit to change it, the defrost control is held in with 2 screws.

Unplug your refrigerator first!

Here's the defrost board for this model you can order:
Manufacturer part number 4388932 is RepairClinic item number 844415

Jake, the part is due on Tues. 8/11. But now the refrig and freezer have stopped cooling. Any further ideas other than waiting for the part? You still think this is the problem given that the unit is not cooling?

Yes, since you said the sound was coming from that area, if the sound was coming from the back next to your compressor, then I'd say it was your compressor start device relay.

Glad to help, to keep your food cold while your waiting for that board, I always advise my customers to purchase about 10 pounds of dry ice, which you can get at most grocery stores.

Default How to unplug

I thought this was going to be the easy part, but how do I unplug the defrost control from the electrical connections. Doesn't want to come apart and I don't want to break it. Any tricks to it?

They just pull off, if they seem hard to pull off, just use a flathead screwdriver or needle-nose pliers to pry them off.

Okay, got them off. I can't believe how much force was necessary. New ADC installed - I'll let you know if it works.
