Default Kenmore Dishwasher 665.15832000

I did a post and it did not end up in the dishwasher forum. Somewhere in the sears kenmore. I am posting again - sorry about that.

My dishwasher is leaving dirt all over the dishes, up in the corners of the washer, and on the door by the vent. I just assumed it was clogged, so I took everything apart and cleaned it all out. I was hoping that would do it but we ran another load last night with the same results. I even ran just a rinse cycle without with dishes and the water was good, so the problem has to be that the dirt is not being flushed out and is spread back around in the rinse cycle. The water fills and drains and the heatng element works, I just get the dirt and crap left on and in the dishes.

HELP! Thanks

Hi,

Did you check your wash and drain impellers to see if they were broken or cracked?

Here's the impeller kit for your model:
Manufacturer part number 675806 is RepairClinic item number 679717
675806

The hardest part is getting the impeller screw out.

Jeff explains here how to do it:
http://www.applianceaid.com/dishrepairhelp.html

If those are ok, then you would likely need a new pump/motor assembly. But since you have a 2000 model, its already 10 years old, and thats about the average life of dishwashers now, so it would be more advisable to save the repair money for a new dishwasher.

Here's the pump/motor assembly for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 8193513A

Thanks Jake. I had to leave town and have not got around to following your advice. I will take all that apart again and do a more detailed inspection. I am not sure I had taken all the parts listed in the kit apart. I am not sure what part is what, but the impellor(?) with the screw holding it down onto the pump is the only one I took off. After taking that off, I can see the chopper, is there another impellor I need to look at?

Awesome! Thanks. Do you happen to have the parts list description that correspond to the numbers on the diagram?

Ok Jake, I took everything out again right down to the impeller #24. The teeth on that look fine but what I did notice was where the spring looking thing hooks on. There are two holes and one end of the spring thing goes into that and holds it. It appears that it has worn its way out so it may not stay in which I assume would affect the chopper. So I just moved it around to the other hole and assumed it would work. After I put that back together and put the filter screen back on I turned the impeller and I could hear the chopper running on the screen and thought, "oh, maybe that needs to be doing that in order to clear all the food stuff", but then I put the black impeller back on on and tightened it down and it seemed as if the chopper was pushed back away from the screen because I could not hear it running on it. Dont know if that plays any part in this or not. I also took the filter screen and blew it out with air and was getting alot of junk out of it, almost as if there was a dish rag sucked into it. I pushed water through it and more air and seemed to get it all out. I assume that the filter screen cannot be taken apart to clean without ruining it correct? Back to the grey impeller #24. The post on that think looked like it was worn down or cracked but it still turned. I ran a quick rinse cycle twice to clean things up and it came out good. I figured it would because there is no food and junk in it right now to leave anything. So, we will run a regular wash tonight and see how things look.

Yes, thats correct.

Here's the filter assembly for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 8519553

Yes, sounds like you did everything right, you may just need a new impeller kit that I posted a link to in post#2 above. And the fiter assembly.

Let me know tonight how it works with what you've done so far.

Jake
