I've checked the obvious things for the leak from the back of the refrigerator. While there is an icemaker, there is no water hookup to it.
There are three copper tubes coming from the compressor at the bottom. Two are small and one is larger. It goes up to near the top behind the freezer where it sets in next to the power hookups. The insulation from that point down is wet. I do not think it is the defrost drain as it is too high for the bottom drain. I've thawed out the freezer to be sure. The Model number according to the sticker inside is 2539346740. It was mf'd in 1995, it says. Could it be using freon? Unsure what it could be, thanx, sam |

Yes, if the defrost drain line is clear, then its possibly a condensation issue in your low side(big copper tube)from the compressor.
Has someone worked on the sealed system(freon) before? Jake

I have no way of knowing but I think not likely.
If it is freon, I expect I'll have to hire someone to do it? How do I know if it is a freon system? thanx, sam |

If its just a condensation issue and your refrigerator/freezer temps are normal, then you'd just need tubing insulation to prevent that.
You can go to your local hardware store and usually find cork insulation tape like this here to wrap on that low side tubing: http://americanhvacparts.com/Merchan...gory_Code=FD-1 Jake

Thanks, I purchased the closest Lowe's had: rubber insulation that looks exactly like it. It's giving me pause as it seems I have to remove the exchange gril on the back and I don't want to bend the feed piping.
The condensation is at the top and it's dripping down over the present insulation. Perhaps I can add this new insulation on top? How forgiving is this piping? thanx, sam |

Yes you can add it at the top.
The copper tubing can be adjusted easily, the steel tubing is not as much forgiving. Jake

Thanks for the assurance. After wrapping the copper tube, and the older insulation, with the new insulation, we're finding that the condensation is just as bad. The temps in the freezer/fridge have not been adjusted and appears to be cooling normally.
Perhaps it's time for a repair/freon exchange? thanx, sam |

While, its not likely you will need a freon exchange/repair unless someone has tapped-in to your sealed system.
You will likely need to have Sears come out to see whats going on with it if the insulation didn't fix it. Jake
