Default Burnt area on Lint Trap

I can't seem to find the answer to my question. Hopefully you can help. I was cleaning the dryer lint trap today before starting the dryer when I noticed a burnt area toward the top of the trap. It looks like something would if a cigarette burned it. It's about 1/2" long and 1/4" wide and is brown. We have had the dryer for about 6 years and have had no problems with it. I am planning to order a new lint trap but do you think there is something further that needs to be investigated? I don't want to have a fire start.

Hi,

Whats the model# of your dryer? Its located inside the door.

Its possible that you may have some lint build-up inside the dryer or lint duct causing this.

Sorry I didn't include that. It's a Series 80 Kenmore model number 110.62802101.

I noticed a lot of people talking about the "kick plate". Where is that and how can I remove it to clean out old lint?
Thanks!

Thanks,

The front panel comes off on your model.

Read paragraph 2 here to take the front panel off, Unplug your dryer first before opening it up:
http://www.applianceaid.com/wpdryer_...tml#full_front

You would want to remove the lint duct in the back of your dryer as well to see if you have lots of lint build-up at the bottom:
I have dropped something down the lint filter area and how can I remove this, Whirlpool, Inglis, Kenmore.

Here's the cheapest price I found for your lint screen assembly you can order:
Manufacturer's Number: 8557882
