Thread: Kenmore Dryer Taking a long time to dry

Hi Andy,

The thermistor is #56 here:

It mounts on the blower housing.

Now this model is a new one for me, I haven't worked on this model before, but it looks like it has a separate blower wheel rather than the blower wheel being mounted directly on the front of your motor.

Long drying times usually indicate a vent restriction, I'd check your blower wheel and see if any lint is clogged in there as well.

Thanks for the quick reply Jake,

I did clean out a lot of lint around the blower wheel, however drying time is still about 2 hours for a load that is not even that big. Is there anything else I can check? Do you think the thermistor could be causing this issue? Another thing I noticed is that when starting the load on automatic, the timer starts at 40 minutes and counts down normally until it reaches 8 minutes. At that point it stays at 8 minutes for at least an hour. If I check the clothes during that time, that are still damp so I assume t is the moisture sensor keeping the dryer on because it senses they are not dry.

I wish I could answer that for you Andy, but I really don't know why its doing that.

Another tech. or member may be able to answer that for you.

Other than that, you may need to have Sears come out to see what the tech. finds out to fix it.
