Unhappy [FIXED] Kenmore HE2 plus wont start cycles

I have a 2 year old(approx) HE2 plus washer that will not start up. The model # is 110.47512601. It all started with the washer beeping at about a 2 miute interval and flashing the led's on the control panel. I unplugged it because I was going away for the weekend. When I returned and plugged it back in and tried to wash a load of laundry, it shut off when I turned the cycle selector switch. At first I found that if I unplugged and replugged the power cord, I could select spin speed, then water temp, then I could turn the selector switch and start the washer. The next day it required three sequences of plugging and unplugging, then select spin speed, select temp, select cycle and press start. Now on the occasion when I can get the control panel lights to come on, the start button will start the whitest whites cycle, but if I rotate the cycle selector button the power goes off. If I hold the stop button in, the power goes off but as soon as it is released, the lights come back on. In all of these scenarios, the power button has not been able to power the washer on. When I power the washer on with the cord, I hear the relay inside click. When I run the diagnostic program F 24 is the only code that comes up. According to the paperwork inside the front panel, this is the water temp sensor. I pulled the connector off of the cpu board and measured the resistance of the sensor. At room temperature,it reads between 12 and 13 K ohms, which seems to be in range. There are no other failure or error codes present, and with all of the powering up and down this code always comes up. This may just be a history of a one time event. HELP!!!

Jake,

How do you remove the selector knob from the user interface panel? Does it just pull straight out? I'd rather not break it.

Thanks, KevinP

The dissassembly instructions just say remove control processor gently. What they aren't specific about is a small clear retainer clip just behind the selector knob. Just gently pull off the knob, then work the retainer clip off PRIOR to removing the control processor at the 7 clip points in the back.

Jake,
You were right on with your diagnosis... The new part arrived yesterday, I installed it and we are back in business. Thanks! It's just too bad a 2 year old $800+ washer already needs a $140 part.
