Default Kenmore Elite Door Gasket

My Kenmore Elite French Door Refrigerator is only three years old and the door gasket is ripping on the bottom edge.
>>
The model number is 795.77252600
The part number appears to be Part # 4987JJ2003E
>>
Also the Cam, Shaft broke on the door.
Part # 4430JJ2005B
>>
I am relatively handy.
Can I replace these items or should a service person be called?
>>
Thank you,
>>
Bill

Hi Bill,

Yes, those look like the correct parts for your model.

If you've fixed other things around your house and are good with tools, then yes, you should be able to do-it-yourself.

I haven't replaced the door gasket on this model as of yet, but most either have screws inside the door liner to hold the door gaskets on, or some just pull-out/push-in place.

You will want to soak the door gasket in hot water in the bathtub for about an hour or so, till it softens up before you install it.

The usually have to take the door of its hinges to install the door cam.

Jake

Bill, is that the gasket for the right or left side door?

If you mean the cam that is at the top of the door it is part of the gasket assembly. No need to take off the door. Pull off the curved trim strip (facing you when the door is open), release the clips from the plastic piece that the upper cam is attached to and the gasket will just pull out around the rest of the door.

I'm interested to see if that gasket is the correct one for the right side door. All the pictures I've seen make it look like the left side.

If you don't mind can you post the gasket measurements?

Jim
