Default [FIXED] Sears Kenmore HE4t; No Water Fill; Error FH

Hello:

My son has a Sears Kenmore Elite HE4t, model number 110.45088402 and he reports no water entering the machine and error code FH. He has measured 800 ohms across each coil on the water inlet valve and he says he sees 110 volts from the coils to ground when he starts the washer but no water flows.

The hoses and screens are clear, domestic water pressure is fine. I believe this machine is less than four years old and has always worked properly.

I have not physically looked at the machine but my son is an electrician and pretty good with things like this and we are both frustrated.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Skip

Hi Skip,

The volt meter probes must be across both terminals on the water inlet valve to measure 120 volts, not to ground.

Whats the model# of this washer? Its located inside the door.

Jake

Hi Jake,

My son reports that the 110 volts was with respect to ground. He states that he did not measure any voltage across the coils. We did see 800 ohms for each coil so we believe they are not open.

The model number is 110.45088402, Kenmore Elite HE4t.

Many thanks,
Skip

Thanks Skip,

Ok, then its likely the water inlet valve is the culprit.

Here's the water inlet valve for your model you can order:

Default Fixed

Hi Jake,

Seeing the washer first hand instead of troubleshooting over the telephone made a big difference!

When I looked at the machine, I discovered that two of the shock absorbers had failed. The resulting excessive tub movement had jarred the wiring harness by the door latch loose and finally had broken one of the wires that run from the controller to the drain pump. We repaired that wire and the machine works properly now. The shocks (8182703) are on order and we should be all set.

I wanted to share this so everyone will know that the error code FH can be caused by the drain pump not running. The diagnostics showed both no water entering the machine and, no drain pump operation. This is also noted on the service-tech sheet.

Anyway, thanks for everything,
Skip

Excellent Skip, good job finding the shocks were the issue.
