Default [FIXED] Kenmore Coldspot model 106.53364300 stop working

Hi,

I have a Kenmore S-by-S Coldspot 106.53364300 for about 5 years. Yesterday the fridge stop working, no cold air on both freezer and fridge side. At the same time, the control panel on the fridge side (adjusting temperature for the freezer and fridge) is stuck at the middle (cannot adjust at all). From what I've bee reading, it may be the start relay issue. I've not had a chance to trouble shoot it yet. Anyone have the same/similar model with same issue? All advice is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

First unplug your refrigerator for about 5 minutes to see if the control will reset, if it doesn't then you will need a new temp control board.

Here's the temp control board for your model:
Manufacturer part number 8201527 is RepairClinic item number 949546
8201527

Hi Jake,

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you know where I can find a diagram showing how to remove the temp control board?

Thanks,

David

Here's the parts diagram with the control board in it #6:
http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_pn...4007-00010.png
Its located inside your console#1, just remove the #7 screws underneath it and it should drop down so you can remove it.

Unplug your refrigerator first.

I just spoke with my brother and he mentioned that the fridge was service by Sears at the beginning for similar issue (no cold air) while still under warranty. The parts replaced were the thermostat and damper. Do you think a faulty thermostat would affect the temperature control panel not able to adjust up or down? Is there a way to trouble shoot this?

Thanks again,

David

Do you know where I can find the electrical schematic for this Kenmore s/s coldspot? I've had a chance to remove the back cover and looked at the start/overload component connected to the side of the compressor. I've attached pictures of the component that rattle when shaken. Hope you can confirm that this is the start/overload relay and whether this should be replace.

Without a schematic, it's difficult to do proper measurement.

Thanks,

David

Yes, if it rattles, then its broken inside.

Here's the start relay for your model you can order:
Manufacturer's Number: 2319792

Just want to provide an update. Replacing the start relay solved the problem, both freezer and fridge are working again.

Thanks,

David
