Default Kenmore Ice stopped and ice collecting at bottom

I have a Kenmore Coldspot 106.54602300 upright fridge/freezer that I purchased in 200 (manufacture date is 2003).

Since we moved it--which I though we did gingerly--from one apartment to another, we've been having ice machine problems. First, the ice machine only intermittently made ice. I would get the ice out and it would make ice again. Then water began dripping from the ice maker. Then water started collecting at the bottom of the freezer. Judging by the flow of the water, it was coming from the back of the freezer, from the vents.

Then, one day, water started coming either from the freezer or for the bottom of the whole unit. We would have puddles in front of the unit. We disconnected the water hose from the wall and the puddles decreased. No water is going to the freezer or the unit itself. But we still get water collecting and then freezing at the bottom of the freezer itself. We have to take out the bottom shelf and thaw it about every two weeks. Then we have to chip out the huge ice chunk from the bottom of the freezer.

I don't know much about repairs. Is this something I can do with a few hours on a Saturday? I can learn and read directions well enough.

Thank you.

Is the water dripping from the ice maker itself?

For the ice at the bottom of your freezer, you will likely need to take the shelves out of your freezer and take off the lower back panel inside the freezer and defrost all the ice with a hair dryer and hot water and run something down the defrost drain hole.

I use a evaporator cooler spider snake:

They are used basically in Arizona to clean out the water pump tubes that run to the cooler pads.

I don't know if they would sell them in your area, but if you go to your local hardware store, they should have something similar to run down your drain to clean it completely out.

Default Water drip

The water drips from the back of the freezer at the bottom of the vents in the back.

What about the ice maker? It doesn't make ice and makes a small groaning mixed with a clicking sound.

Default Thanks

Thanks. I noticed I didn't say thank you on the other post. Sorry about that. But thanks all the same. Ok, some work ahead of me.

Is there a post that describes how to remove the broken icemaker and install the new one?

Yes,

Here's the instructions TO change the ice maker assembly:

1. Remove the bucket from the door to get some room.

2. Put a piece of tape on the sensor flapper to hold it down so you won't damage it while removing the ice maker.

3. Remove the ice maker service cover door by spreading the two hinge fingers apart away from the center and the door should lift out of the slot.

4. Remove the screw in the right rear bottom side of the ice maker.

5. After removing the screw that cover should lift up from the rear and just work it out from the rear and you see the electrical harness.

6. On the left track the should be a tab toward the bottom which you need to push up.

7. Push up tab and start working the ice maker towards you pulling it out of the track.

8. Careful with the electrical harness in the back as you're pulling out.

9. Disconnect the electrical plug by lifting the clip on the plug.

10. Remove the side cover on the side module by pulling off.

11. Remove the bottom shield by removing the 3 screws on the bottom.

12. To install reverse the order as it came out.
