Default Kenmore 417.43042200 odd spin/agitate problem

Kenmore 417.43042200 snXC25115185- not spinning or agitating normally. I've read many posts about no spin/agitate, but this is slightly different. Washer fills normally and timer runs normally. The drum "pulses" every 30 sec or so. By pulse I mean it acts like the motor received a short burst of voltage, the drum turns 20-40 degrees then stops. Empties water properly at end of wash and rinse. During spin again this "pulse" every 30 sec or so through the spin cycle. I don't believe its the door latch since it would not spin at all, or at least that's my intuition. I've done some of the voltage tests on the tech sheet and the pins that are supposed to read 120V do. I've read about siezed motors, but the motor does turn freely by hand. First post on the site, looking forward to some advice. Thank you!!

Hi,

Did you read this thread about how to check the motor controller board and motor itself:
Kenmore 417.29052990 frt loader diagnostic procedure

You should have a tech data sheet inside your washer at the very bottom once you remove the front lower access panel below your door, it will be taped on the inside panel in a brown envelope.

I pulled the sheet. The 6pin connector read 120VAC, on the next test of voltage between pins on the 10 and pin 5 of the 6 pin all readings were OK exept pin 1 to pin 5. The sheet says it should be 0VAC but was reading approx 34VAC. It then says to check timer contacts- where are they located? I checked the fuse on the control board, its fine. I also checked resistance on the speed control board. It says resistance between 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 1 and 3 should be 3meg Ohms +-10%. These all read between 1150 and 1300 ohms. Any thoughts? It puzzles me that the motor runs in these short pulses

Yep, those resistances readings on the speed control board definitely mean its the speed control board thats bad.

Here's the one for your model you can order:
Part#134149220
Spin control board assembly

All parts come with a 30 day full refund, even if you installed them.
