Default [FIXED] Help with Kenmore Coldspot (sniffle)

ARGGGGHHHHH ok maybe that will help (deep breath). Ok yesterday evening after dinner I kept hearing a clicking in the kitchen, maybe once every 30 mins. Our stove clicks when it gets left on (which has been known to happen ha ha) so I thought that was it, checked it etc. Stove was fine. Fast forward to today still hear clicking occasionally but didn't think much of it, til we happened to be cleaning out our basement (random I know) and water started dripping on my head...from the freezer. Turns out everything in the freezer is warmish, not frozen, ice is almost all melted. Fridge stuff at first seems ok, milk container is cold to the touch etc. But after DBF started drinking one of his not so frosty beers we realize the fridge is toast too-both fridge and freezer are reading around 65 degrees-not good. Fridge is still making a normal "humming" fridge noise and still doing the occasional clicking.

All we have done is move it out to clean out the water, unload everything (some stuff to another fridge thank goodness, the freezer stuff seems pretty much a loss.) We turned the power off at the breaker and then back on after 30 seconds or so just in case it needed a reboot-

Fridge is about 8 years old-Kenmore Coldspot 106.52282201 I can't even find this model number online to see what size it was or anything for price shopping. I'm just not sure what to do-

Hi Janet,

Sounds like your compressor start relay went out.

This thread explains how to check it:
[FIXED] How to replace a (Whirlpool/Kenmore Model 106) Refrigerator Start Relay

Here’s the compressor start relay for this model, it comes with complete instructions:
Manufacturer part number 8201786 is RepairClinic item number 1177466

Default Ok...

Parts came, although I'm not 100% sure of how to know which white thing to use and I'm not sure what the black thing is...sorry. The directions that came with it are a little sketchy...is there anything on here that might help a little more?

The directions say what white part to use, look on your compressor label, it should have numbers that match the instructions that match.

Don't worry about the black part right now.

But guess what???? It's FIXED!!!! Jake, I don't know ya, but I could kiss ya! Freezer is already down to 20 and making ice and the fridge is down to 40 and falling. You are THE MAN! I'm going to up my membership level now!

Exclamation Clicking noise from back of unit

I have a Coldspot 106.59592990 that started making a clicking/popping noise last night. After reading a bunch of threads related to the problem, I removed the rear cover and wiggled the black cover off of the starter. When it clicked, I saw a spark at the relay and the compressor actually started!! It hasn't made the click since. Was it just a dirty contact, or is it going to fail soon anyway? Should I order a new starter just in case?
