Default Kenmore Elite 665.13769K600 Only Fills and Drains

Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash, Model 665.13769K600
Problem started like many I’ve read about, louder than normal running sound. Started troubleshooting with the easiest fix, removed and cleaned the chopper and screen. The sound would still come and go until it finally stopped washing. Looked like it went through the cycles but didn’t wash. The soap did not rinse off the door.

Operation sequence:
  1. Start the normal cycle, dishwasher fills to the heating element level.
  2. Stops filling and clicks to the next cycle but only hums.
  3. Water drains
  4. “Clean” light flashes 7 light sequence.
  5. Open door and close. Green clean light still flashing.
  6. Pressed Start, rapid 3 light flash.
  7. Cancel wash to clear lights.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom,

The Clean light flashes 7 times now? and you cant start it at all now?

Sounds like you have 2 issues if thats the case, the washer motor and the heating element.

Jake,

Thanks for the reply.

The flashing light just happened as I was trying to run the cycle to note and describe the original problem. You’re correct; the dishwasher will not start at all now. Do you recommend replacing both parts or can that error status be reset. Possibly the element is not bad?

You would need a volt/ohm meter to check the ohms on your heating element, normal is 11-30 ohms.

You would need to ohm your heating element for continuity, a good element should show 30 ohms or less.

Make sure the breaker is off to your dishwasher first. Its likely the electrical terminals are in the very back, so you'll likely need to pull your dishwasher out to ohm the heating element. Take the heating element wires off first before testing the element for continuity.

First feel your heating element all around inside your dishwasher, if you feel bumps on it or pits in it, its definitely your element thats bad.

Here's the heating element for your model in case you need to order it:
Manufacturer part number 8537057 is RepairClinic item number 1164450
8537057

To Reset the control board:
Push "sani rinse" + "energy saver dry" + "sani rinse" + "energy saver dry"

Let me know what you find.

Jake

Jake,
The button sequence didn’t work as I don’t have an “energy saver dry”. The option buttons are Turbo Zone, Hi Temp, Sani Rince and Heated Dry. I did try several combinations but the light didn’t stop.
I pulled the dishwasher out and checked the element continuity. Tested good with about 13 ohm resistance. Element condition looks good.
Pulled the motor and found it difficult to turn. Must be the culprit. Can you find me the part ordering information? When I do a search with my model number, I come up with a trash compactor.
Will I still need the code to clear the trouble light once the motor is installed?
Thanks for all the help. Tom

Try Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry

Did you feel the heating element inside the tub for pits or rough spots on it?

Here's your wash motor assembly you can order:
