Default Kenmore front loading washer

I was just reading the blog about the problems with the rear bearing on Kenmore front loaders. Mine just went on the skids. All indications are that the drum and bearing will need to be replaced. With parts and shipping it will run nearly $500, plus my time to repair it.

Does anyone know of a good front loader that does not have this problem?

The Kenmore I have begins with a 417 model number. Apparently that means it is an electrolux. Does the Frigidaire model have the same problems?

Thanks, I need to go out and look for one right away. We have rental units here in Kauai, and can't be without.

Jim

Hi Jim,

Yes the 417 Kenmore models are made by Frigidaire which is owned by Electrolux.

You have the 2nd generation of these washers, which had the bearing issue.

The 3rd generation of these which they sell now, doesn't have this bearing issue anymore.

The Kenmore 110 models are good, they are made by Whirlpool.

Jake
