Default Kenmore 80 Series Washer Problem

My Kenmore Model 110.82882100 washer fills normally at the beginning of the wash cycle. The spin cycle goes fine. When it is time to fill for the rinse cycle, the water just trickles in. Often, if you push the timer knob in, turn it 360 degrees, and then slightly to the right of where it was, you can get the rinse water to fill at the normal rate, and then the cycle completes normally. I suspect the problem is related to the timer, but I'm not sure if I need the timer or timer motor. Do you think I am on the right track? Which part do I need to replace?

Hi,

It sounds more like your water inlet valve cold side is bad.

Fill it with just cold water only on all the wash cycles and see if the water comes out normal.

Hi Jake,

Tested all machine cycles using cold wash setting. When the washer is filling for the rinse portion of the cycle, the cold water trickles in for the rinse cycle, regardless of what machine cycle is used. However, when the washer is filling for the wash cycle in the beginning, the cold water does not just trickle in, regardless of what machine cycle is used. The cold water flow seems fairly normal at the beginning of the wash cycle, regardless of what machine cycle is used. What does it mean?

Possibly the inlet thermistor sensor, or Its defective floodsafe hoses that is causing the problem. Do you have floodsafe fill hoses on your washer?

Thermistor assembly - part number 3352282. This is on the inside of the back panel, next to the water inlet valve.

how to access a direct drive washer, pump repair, motor repair, replacing the motor coupler, intalling the cabinate, removing the cabinate, Whirlpool, Inlgis, Kenmore, washers

Good general help on taking this type of machine apart.

Do not have floodsafe fill hoses. Please briefly explain the function of the inlet thermistor sensor. Are there any other tests that I could run to help you make the best possible diagnosis?

It controls the temperature of the water going into your washer.

You could disconnect the rubber hose before it goes into that thermistor when you see it tricking in, and see if you have full force once its disconnected from that thermistor.
