Default Model 417.44082400 washer E61 error code

Recently our washer Sears Kenmore 417.44082400 started having problems. It would stop and start throughout the cycles. Then it stopped working all together, it gave an error code of E61 and continued to beep. Then a few days later it worked fine with no problems for a month or so.

Then it started again. Same E61 error code. Can't find what this error code is.

Hi Shannon,

I've looked everywhere online with no success to what the E61 error means.

You should have a tech. data sheet in the bottom of your washer that should tell you, just take of the lower front access panel below your door, and you should see it on the one of the inside cabinet walls.

Let me know what you find.

Could it be EB1? If so look at page64 of this manual

We already checked the tech data sheet, no E61 is on there.

As for EB1, would it show as a lower case b on the digital screen? Anyways as for the problem listed as EB1 "Incoming power frequency out of limits", we are having no problems with our incoming power. Nothing else in the house is having power issues, so I really doubt that is the problem.

Someone else said they thought that code was a bad control board. If that were the case what control board as the parts list has two, the 'printed circuit control board' and the 'motor control board'???

Just to recap the problem: It is an intermittent problem, with the washer working sometimes and beeping and flashing nonsense (on the screen) other times. Sometimes when it is acting up you can get it to run a cycle but it will stop and start all the way through the cycle until the cycle is done (which takes hours). We see no reason for it to start acting up. For example, a load was done this past Monday, the washer worked normally that day. No laundry done since, but just this afternoon it started its beeping and flashing again. I did not try and use it. (I am a stay at home mom and can easily hear the beeping). It seems to start up this problem randomly even when we are not using it. Basically, we are not doing anything to trigger this.

Yes, it could be EB1, I'm not sure about the lowercase b.

Yes, it would be the main control board here:

On the tech data sheet for EB1, test 15 is 'Have the power company check the frequency of the incoming power. If correct, replace the control board.' That is all that is there.

There is no heater control board listed on the parts sheet. Only control boards listed are motor and printed circuit.

I really don't know, I'd hate to speculate on something I've never seen myself before.

At this point, its probably better to have Sears come out to see whats going on.

I ordered the control board you recommended earlier. It would cost us $125 just to have Sears come out and that is without parts costs. For the same amount I can order the part and try that.

My best guess is that it is an electronics issue so the control board makes the most sense. Seeing that everything else functions on the washer in that we can run full cycles, when it lets us.

Thanks for the help I will let you know if that works. Is there anything about installing the control board we should know about?
