Default Kenmore HE2 Plus spin not working right

Hello...the spin on my HE2 Plus keeps turning on and off without reaching full spin speed. It'll ramp up and then cut out before it reaches full speed. It keeps starting and stoping then finally it'll ramp up and finish wash. Clothes still appear to be very wet, not soaking though, when they come out. Also the timer will say a minute left and it takes like 10 minutes to complete. There are no error codes and I have already tried the pump filter and the drain ball, all appears to be ok. Please help!

Thanks Todd,

Sounds like its getting off-balance, that will make it start and stop then finally it'll ramp up and finish wash, how much of a load are you putting in?

Hi Jake.....

It does it even when it's empty! Have put a level on it, it appears to be level.

Ok, does it drain the water out fast? Good flow out the drain hose?

Check to see if something is semi-clogging your water pump filter.

Unplug the Machine
Remove Three Torx (hex heads) screws on front bottom of machine. Slighty lift the panel and pull the bottom towards you. Pump is right in middle in front of you.

Unscrew the pump handle with your hand, get something to catch the water thats left in it in, or get some big old towels to soak up water that comes out.

The water pump changes from #8540024 to #W10130913:
(The manufacturer has replaced part#8540024 with this item, part #W10130913.) (Manufacturer part#W10130913 is RepairClinic item #1373005.):

If the water pump filter is fine, then its either your motor or MCU(Motor control board), I'd recommend to have a Sears tech. come out if thats the case.

thanks Jake....have done all of that, nothing seems to work. Machine definetly does not seem to be balanced. It constantly moves one way then the other trying to level load. One thought, washer was moved and locking pins were not used. What damage could this have caused and could it have anything to do with my balance problem?

Also just did a load....it ramped up to full speed but sounded like it was going to come through the wall, vibrating like heck!

thanks...

Yes, its possibly your tub bearing or shocks that are broken.

Did you check your 4 shock absorbers?

Here's the shock absorber for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: W10084740

You'll likely need to contact Sears to come out if its the tub bearing.

Thanks again Jake...is there a way to "test" the shock absorber? Also I work in equipment maintenance, how can I find the bearing part number if it should need that?

It's great that you provide this help to people!

Thank you and hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Todd, Happy Thanksgiving!

Just see if the shocks are broken, no other test that I know of.

The bearing isn't a separate part, you have to order the outer tub assembly and the bearing comes installed.

Here's the outer tub assembly for your model:
Manufacturer part number 280253 is RepairClinic item number 1409491
