Default Kenmore washing machine not spinning

    Hello,

I have a Kenmore, top load, direct drive washing machine that has stopped spinning while in the spin cycle. It is also making a rumbling, clicking sound during the spin cycle.

I have removed the motor to see if it was the coupler that was broken but the three pieces are fine. I am now guessing it is the drive block since I can spin the basket with my hands. However, I can't seem to remove the spanner nut since the basket spins as I try to unscrew it. I am guessing that it is not supposed to do that.

Any suggestions? Would the fact that the basket is spinning as I try to unscrew the nut suggest other problems?

Whats the model# of your washer? Its located inside the lid.

Are you turning the spanner nut clockwise? On these models its reversed thread to loosen that nut.

Yes, the water is drained, it just does not spins.

The model number is 110.24964300. I haven't tried to turned it clockwise so I'll see if that does the trick.

Ok thanks, let us know how it goes.

Yes, Sounds like your tub drive hub is stripped.

Here's the tub drive block for your model:
