Default [FIXED] Kenmore Dryer 417 88052700 Runs but no heat need a diagram to take a look.

    Model Number: 417 88052700
    Brand: Sears Kenmore

Had great luck with this forum last time for my oven now Im back for my dryer.

It runs fine, drum turns, but there is no heat. I shook it a little when it was running and the heat elements flicked on briefly, so Im guessing theres something loose.

Looking for a diagram so I can get in there and look at it. Looks like I have to take the drum out???

    Can some one help please!

    Thanks

    Hi, welcome back.

You will need to unplug or turn the breaker off to your dryer, then take it apart, this link will show you how:
White-West, Frigidaire repair info, how does the dryer come apart, front flides and how to replace them

Then look at your element, you may see a broken element wire.

If a broken heating element wire isn't obvious, You would need a volt/ohm meter to diagnose it:
Frigidaire, White Westinghouse, Magic Chef, Maytag Performa Dryers, common repair info, no heat, noises, how to take apart

Here's the heating element assembly for your model:
    Manufacturer's Number: 131553900

Here's also the repair manual for your model you can print out the sections you need to:

    Default Kenmore dryer

Hey Jake. Thanks for the info. I took the dryer apart and saw that the heating element was broken in half. So I ordered a new element (just the "spring" like part not a new "pan" around it) and installed it.

Put the dryer back together, plugged it in and it came on. Pressed start and it spins about once then flips the breaker in my fuse box.

Unhooked the element connection and the dryer spins fine and the breaker doesn't flip.

Not sure what Im doing wrong. Can you advise?

    Thanks,

    KL

    Ok KL,

Your element wire must be touching the pan, thats why I never just order the element wire, I hate stringing that wire all around the pan.

Default Fixed Element now I have another problem

Theres an annoying click/thump now. I took everything apart again and put everything back together. Made sure everything was screwed in tight, and that the drum wasnt hitting something inside. The thump seems to occur when one of seems on the drum goes by a certain spot in the dryer but I cannot find anything. It does it sometimes then other times it doesnt.

    Any thoughts?

Not sure what is causing it, you may need to take the drum out again and see if you can locate what's doing it.

I have this same problem where the drum turns and the heat does NOT come on. I tried to open the manual above, but it would not open. I need help determining the problem, the dis-assembly and re-assembly of the dryer. Help!
