I have a 4-5 year old Kenmore Model 70 front load washer. The washer is filling reeeeaaallly slow when it is filling with cold water. When I open the washer I cna see the hot/warm works fine, fills quickly, but cold just seems to flow at about a trickle (technical term meaning slow). I've checked the lines leading into the back of the washer and they are fine, as is the cold water pressure from the faucet the line is attached to. Any idea 1) what the heck is going on and 2) how to fix it?
Thanks!!

Got a water softener? These sometimes put resin out which is caught in the inlet screens in the water valve. May be some other debris in there, I'd check them first.

Nope, now water softener. However the clogged inlet screen might have potential. Stupid question of the evening: how do I get to the inlet screens of the water valve? Are they accessible by disconnecting the cold water line (i.e. from the outside) or do I have to get at it (them) from the inside?
Thanks!

Indeed it does, thanks much! I'll take a look at it and see what the screen looks like. Thanks again...

Screen is clear of all debris....looked brand new. Any other thoughts? I wonder if I may need a new fill valve. I'm guessing that's a bit of a pain to replace. I figure - just looking at it - that the back of the washer has to come off. I guess that's probably not all that tough but still, far more involved than I had set aside time for (isn't that always the case?)

Hi,
If the fill valve screens are clear and the fill hose screens are clear and water flows out of the hose into the laundry tub or bucket ok, leaves "a new fill valve time".
**I figure - just looking at it - that the back of the washer has to come off.**
No model# posted ( Model70 isn't it ), but the Frigidaire built Kenmore front load washer require the entire back panal to come off ( esp if the dryer is ontop of the washer ) or sometimes can change the valve by removing the washer top panal.
A common fill valve - part#134190200

Yeah, to double check I left the hose connected to the outlet and dropped the washer end into the laundry sink and cranked on the water. It flowed fine.
I realized - after a bit of digging - that model 70 indeed was not the model number (D'oh!), 110.26722693 is which, if I managed to work the search engine correctly, means p/n 358277 (http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/cgi...=4126469_15402).
I hadn't thought about removing the top panel, but for sure something is going to have to be removed, I sure can't get to it by reaching my hand up in and around the tub!
Any suggestions are, as always, appreciated and welcome!
