Kenmore model 596.72253200 problem

Sears Kenmore
Age:
6-10 years
I have a Kenmore model 596.72253200 and it started to make a click sound along with buzzing noise then click and stop for a few minutes. The temp in the freezer and refrigerator are worm almost room temp and the compresor is very warm to hot. Does anyone know what could course this and the solution.

The Amana proverbial failed start relay, the compressor has started a long lingering death......you can start with replacing the start package, P/N 67005560, that should fix it for a while............ If not, a 3-N-1 RCO810 to get you thru till you find a replacement .............mine has lasted more than a year on the same replacement P/N 67005560 ..........When it goes I will replace the compressor...........good model of refer.........

i checked the overload relay and capacitor they were both good. does this mean my compressor needs to be replaced.

Yes, its the compressor thats bad.
Check your warranty in your owners manual, some have up to a 10 year warranty on the compressor, you would just have to pay labor to have it installed by Sears.

only have 10 year warranty on ones sold in Canada.

I took the overload apart and then put is back together, reinstalled it. when I plugged the refrigerator back in the compressor turned no and it started to cool.
