Default New ice maker - still no ice

    Model Number: 795.77569600
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 1-5 years

About two years ago our ice maker stopped working. Thanks to this forum, you helped us order a replacement and repair it ourselves.

About few weeks ago, the ice maker stopped working again. The ice tray would fill with water, and the ice would freeze, but the ice would never eject. We reset the ice maker several times, but the ice remained in the tray. After about a week and a half of this, we decided the ice maker must have crapped out again, so we ordered another new one from Sears.

This last Saturday, we replaced the ice maker. (We are pros at it now). After about 18 hours the ice maker finally filled the tray with water, and started freezing the ice. But, the same problem now exists. The ice maker never ejected the newly frozen ice. The water dispenser works fine, and the ice motor runs correctly when you select the ice dispenser.

It has now been four days since we replaced the ice maker, and the same ice is still frozen in the tray. Absolutely no ice has been ejected yet. Of course, this now leads us to believe their is a bigger problem, not just the ice maker itself, and that we replaced a perfectly good ice making unit.

Is there anything else we can try? We've unplugged the power from refrigerator, and let it sit for a minute, then plugged it back in. We've reset the new ice maker numerous times, but it is obvious something else is going on. Temperatures inside the refrigerator appear normal.

We are at the point now where we have had so many problems with this refrigerator and the ice maker, we want to just get rid of it and buy another new fridge.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Sorry for the delay, Been out of town this week.

Yes, I really don't know whats causing the ice maker issues you've had and have again now.

I quit Sears to start my own appliance company and never had training on the 795 Kenmore models made by LG.

You may want to talk to the Sears store manager where you bought it at and let them know about the problems you've experienced with the ice maker and see if they can pay to have the problem resolved, with having a Sears tech. come out to locate the source of the ice maker failures.

No problem. Funny thing is, a few days ago the ice maker dropped one round of ice. It now has been about 3 days since, and it dropped another round yesterday. Very bizarre behavior. I guess if we want to wait, we'll have a full ice bucket in about 6 weeks

I have not talked to Sears yet. A few days after I originally posted (about a week and a half after I installed the new icemaking unit) the thing started working again. It is making ice like crazy.

I have no idea why it took a week and a half to start working, but for the moment it is.
