Default How to remove the fine screen to clean?

I have a Kenmore dishwasher, model 66515979990. The fine screen in the bottom of the dishwasher has fine particles of sediment [not mud-like as described in another post]. I want to take it out to clean it since it is not cleaning as well as previously, however I cannot figure out how to remove it. I took off the lower arm, and can see the screen. I removed the plastic water intake tube, but nothing budges. I sure would appreciate some advice on how to proceed further.

Default OK, got the screen clean but...

Thank you Jake for the great links. However now I find it is not cleaning as well as it has previously say as recently as a month ago. I found no plugged holes in the arms. The screen actually became really clean when I ran a cycle with lots of vinegar and the soap, so I didn't take it apart. I am wondering if the pump is worn or something?? Any thoughts on that?

Yea, It could be your pump is wearing out, i replace alot of these pump/motor assemblies every year:

Here is the one for your model:
    Dishwasher pump and motor assembly

Or you can first try this product, it does a great job in cleaning the pump out:

Default It sounds like the pump alright!

Thank you for your help, Jake. I appreciate the site for the part. I may try the cleaner idea first. Thanks again.

    Default OK so far

I have been using the 'pots and pan' setting after cleaning the screen using a lot of vinegar for a cycle. It is cleaning well with the extended wash cycle, but you must be right Jake, that the pump is wearing out. I will let it go for awhile until that extended cycle is not sufficient and plan to attempt the pump assembly at that point. I am not sure how it will come out of the dishwasher and may look to buy a repair manual for it to get idea how things go in there. Joehawk

Hi Joehawk, yes buying the repair manual is a good idea, I was looking for one for your model, but didn't see one. You can e-mail the RepairGuru to see if they have one for your model.
