    Default FIXED: 80 Series making grinding noise and won't agitate (but I'm agitated).

    Model Number: 110.24862300
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 6-10 years

    Out of nowhere... grind away...

    Drug out in the garage, drained the water. Noticed the amount of oil/grease everywhere, but I think it's always been that way? Even on the lower sides of the the washer.

    Nonetheless, this part barely turns and there is a grinding noise... any thoughts?

    I've had an "aha" moment! After educating myself with this model, I went for it by removing the motor/transmission and decoupling... lo and behold:

    And a gotcha... when I was moving the machine temporarily back into the laundry room to reclaim the garage space while I await my part, this piece tumbled out when I sat it upright... I've scoured over diagrams and can't seem to find it... anyone have a clue? I'm sure after about 2 hours of piece by piece inspection I *might* be able to find its home but I'd rather ask for help than get overly frustrated! Thanks!

    Yup,

    You need a new motor coupling.

    You can order it here:
    Manufacturer part number 285753A is RepairClinic item number 1195967


    Here's the video to change it:



    That pin is your shipping pin, you don't need it anymore once the washer is delivered at your house when its new.
