Default Kenmore gas dryer timer won't advance, heating is inconsistent

    Model Number: 110.97550100
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: More than 10 years

Hey guys. My Kenmore Model No. 11097550100 gas dryer will start, with heat most of the time, but the timer won't advance in any mode. When we first discovered the problem the dryer was running but the clothes were wet. THere was no heat even though the dryer was running. I then turned the control knob all the way around, the dryer started up, the ignitor started and everything was good, but the timer still will not advance in any mode. So we manually have to turn it off. When I have been manually turning it off after it has run awile there is no heat but the clothes have generally been dry. If I stop and then start the dryer I noticed that the heat does not always come back on. Once the ignitor glowed but the gas did not fire. Any suggestions? I replace the thermal fuse two years ago. The outside ven is clean and air blows out. Could this be a resistor problem? Thanks for any replies.

    Hi,

Your gas coils are bad, and that makes the timer not advance in the auto-dry cycle. The new gas coils will also fix the lack of heat issue as well.

Here's the gas coil kit for your model you can order here:
Manufacturer part number 279834 is RepairClinic item number 3479
    279834

Here's a video of how to access and change them:
