What do you think? I don't understand why all of a sudden the freezer keeps getting clogged up!

Any advice would be great!

Thanks
Dirk

Ok, you will need a volt/ohm meter to ohm out that defrost thermostat for continuity, its mounted on the right side of that evaporator coil with the orange and brown wire to it. Ohm it while its frosted to get a good reading.

Your model# of the refrigerator should be mounted on the ceiling of your refrigerator section, or on the right or left side of the top refrigerator walls.

I do replace lots of those defrost thermostats on this Kenmore model made by Amana.

You can even purchase a volt/ohm meter and that defrost thermostat at your local appliance parts store in your area, as I know your in a hurry to get it fixed permanently.

Jake,
Looking at the wires the yellow wire runs in from the top and out through the back. Are these the wires I need to ohm?

OK, I think I may have found the defrost thermostat. It's the one in the red box in the image and it has orange and a brown wires going to connectors. I disconnected the wires and ohm the thermostat and it had no continuity. So, I am going to look for a replacement tomorrow.

Let you know how it goes!

Yes, I meant to say orange and brown wires, that photo in the previous post is correct.

Yes, if that defrost thermostat has no continuity while testing it in the frost, then thats the part thats bad.

Since you didn't provide us with the full model# we can't look it up for you. But you can go to www.applianceblog.com/parts to look it up and order it.

First, let me say thanks a million to Jake! You have been a great help. I found a web page that allowed me to enter the type and style of frig and it narrowed the window down on the model number. I looked through the list and found a model that reference the part number of the thermostat as 104424-02 and said to use 104424-11. I found a replacement thermostat and should have it sometime this week. I took your advice I found in another post and made a jump wire to plug-in once or twice a day to defrost the coils when I notice some ice build up.

Again, thanks a bunch.
Dirk
