Default Icemaker dispenses way too much water

Hi Folks - I'm new here, and need some help.

The icemaker in our Kenmore 106. 9750382 fridge dispenses so much water the tray overflows into the ice bucket. Other than dispensing too much water, it works fine for being 10 years old.

I leveled the fridge, measurerd how much water it was dispensing (about 375 cc), adjusted the water dispensing screw (no change), and then took the icemaker apart. A black carbon buildup was found on the copper strip on back of the index knob as well as on the "finger" contact for the dispense adjustment. After removing the the carbon with a metal polish, and reassembling the icemaker, there's no change. It still dispenses about 375 cc rather than 140 cc as my service sheet says, and turning the adjusting screw has no affect.

I haven't done any electrical checks yet.......is that my next step? .....or a new icemaker? Are replacement parts readily available? If so where can I get them?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Best Regards ,
Bob S.

Hi,

Yes, I have seen this happen many times, you will need a new Ice Maker.

The main control board is bad.

Here is the Ice Maker for your model you can order:
Replacement 8 cube icemaker kit
