Default Kenmore 70 Series Timer Switch?

    Hello All,

New to this forum but it looks like the place to be for getting help with appliances so here goes. We have a Kenmore 70 series dryer model #: 110.67732791 and it appears to have a bad timer switch. For example: you can set the timer for a TIMED DRY cycle of 30 minutes and the dryer will run for 30 minutes and then shut off. However, you can walk back to the dryer 15 minutes later and the timer will be on AIR DRY cycle and still advancing. The problem is that the timer switch controls the heater coils and they will come on and stay on without the drum rotating causing the dryer to get smoking hot. So I am wondering if I am on the right track here or if there might be another part that I need to replace. Just wanted to check with the experts before I spend $$$ for a part that might not fix it.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

    Cheers,

    Scott
