Question Removing timer control knob on series 90 (110.20902990)

I have a series 90 washer that runs intermittently like as if it were workingfficeffice" />>>

that this is the result of a poor timer and have ordered a replacement.>>
Now that I have the removed the console I'm at the point where I>>

timer control knob - it is one of the knobs with two parts - the knob >>
can be pushed in to stop the machine and spin the setting and >>
pulled out to stop the machine. The question I have is what is the>>
best method to remove the timer control knob. >>

Lightbulb How to remove the control knob

Well, the replacement part arrived today and provided the answer to my question. The center portion of the knob is removed by pushing the knob in and rotating it counter clockwise (it's mounted on a bolt). the outer ring simply slides off after the center knob is removed.

Replacing the timer fixed the problem at a cost of ~$90, a hour surfing the web and 2 hours of labor.

Interesting to note that one of the two mounting brackets for the face plate on this washer did not line up (at all) with the mounting hole on the timer (this was clear when I took the original apart). I'm not a mechanical engineer, but I would not be surprised if this contributed to the early failure of more than one of the timer control units.
