Default Disable buzzer

Hi. I have a Kenmore 400 Series dryer. Model is 110.77422600 (gas dryer). Just bought the thing and the buzzer is so loud, it can be heard from every floor of the house and just woke up the baby...so............ wifey says the buzzer has to go. I agree. This thing is so loud it's creepy.

This is a fairly low-end cheapie model and doesn't appear to have any volume or on/off switch for this buzzer. Can someone point me in the right direction so I can open this up and completely disable the buzzer? I'm hoping it's separate from the timer, tho.

A few things...
  • I realize this will likely void my warranty. That's ok.
  • I've completely taken apart a dryer before, so I'm comfortable doing so. Just not sure where the buzzer module is located.
Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the reply.

But....can I get a bit more of a pointer that tells me where exactly the buzzer is behind the console and which wire I might cut? Maybe it'll be common sense once I open up the console. But the again, maybe not?

Bambiblaster, thanks for your help. As you suggested, I:
  • Took the screws off the back console and opened it up
  • Found the buzzer
  • Pulled off one of the lead wires (black wire, in my case)
  • Taped-over the black wire to prevent any short
Worked like a charm. Took me 5 minutes. Dryer works great...with no BUZZZZZZZZZZ.

Here's some images that might help anyone else also looking for a solution to this problem.

This image above shows the back of the console. The thing with the blue, purple, red, etc, wires is the back of the main console knob. Just to the left of that is a small black box. That's the buzzer.

The pic above is a close-up of the buzzer. Simply remove one of the lead wires off the peg, tape the wire over and you're golden.
