Default Kenmore 80 Series Gas Dryer Heat Problem

OK, I've searched and done some troubleshooting, but can't figure it all out, so here goes . . .

1. Kenmore Model # 110-72812101 Gas Dryer, approx. 4 years old.
2. Tumbles, blows fine, no heat.
3. Pulled tiny (~1" square) plastic cover out of hole in lower left front panel of dryer - can't seen anything glowing, burning, etc.
4. Removed rear panel to check thermal fuse - 120V on both sides, so I assume it is fine.
5. Opened top panel and removed front panel - can now see everything, but can't start the dryer to observe/"test" since front panel contains the "bearing" for the front of the drum.
6. Checked everything pretty much - 120V pratically everywhere.
7. Disconnected wires to ignitor - shows open circuit with multi-meter (ohms settings).
8. Pulled out ignitor - appears to have burned out (white area with what appears to be a crack - hard to tell).
9. Used one of the long handled lighters to see if it would make the flame sensor "open" (trying to test it - my understanding is if it stuck closed, it could have caused the ignitor to burn out). It never "opened".

So here I am, I know I have a bad ignitor, but trying to figure out if something else caused it to fail so that I can replace that part as well. And not have another burned up ignitor in a couple of weeks!

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi,

Your igniter just wore out, nothing made it go out.

When you replace it, it will go many more years.

Here is the one for your model you can order:
