Newbie post here, but glad to find this site! I've got an old (unknown age) electric dryer that takes longer and longer on the automatic setting to finish the cycle properly - currently requires another 15-20 minutes timed after cranking it to the hottest setting on automatic.
The heat coil was replaced (by me) last year so that is fine. I'm thinking all the sensors and thermostats are wearing out, and here's the parts list I put together from the Sears parts site:
Will this likely be sufficient? Looks like I can buy these parts from your site too, looks like they're in stock. Won't need the service manual either. I've had this thing completely apart, spread all over the house, then back together previously, so no fear of the unknown here... Thanks in advance, Brian Richardson |

The first thing I always check when its taking longer than normal to dry is your exhaust venting to the outside.
I would put it back together if its still apart now, then do a test load with no vent hooked-up at all, and see if it drys normal again. Also do a temperature test will its out from the wall, it should cycle at 120-180 degrees on high heat with no clothes in it. I would hate to see you order all those parts and it still not dry properly. Jake

Hello Jake - thanks for the reply. That's definitely not the problem, I've done that in the past and it didn't make a difference. The previous repair was done a year ago, I've been running the dryer fine since then, just takes too long.
Can the parts in my list wear out leading to the specified problem? Thanks. |

Yes, possibly, how old is your dryer? Post the serial# and I can tell you the age of it.

Thanks again. S/N: M74612323, Model:110.86870100
My suspicion is whatever part monitors the moisture sensing. The dryer is plenty hot when running, and is venting properly. |

Its a 1987 model, 20 years is really good for a dryer to last nowadays.
