Default 253 not adequately cooling

I've read a number of discussions in this forum on Kenmore 253s and cooling issues. This unit was manufactured in 1999 and did have the cooling system replaced after less than two years. Sides are warm, drain not plugged, panel over condensor is cold (but not frosted). Temps are now around 5-10 C below and alarm is going off continually (thanks for the silence button). An interesting thing however, it used to create some sort of vacuum and suck the door inward when door was closed. This feature stopped shortly before the temp problems emerged. I don't know what creates the interior vacuum and if it has any tie to the cooling issue. Help? Is this a simple replacement of some relay, fan motor, etc or time to get a new one which seems to be the consensus once the cooling sytem is marginal? Thanks.

Hi,

We would need the full model#, its located inside the door on the left or right side of your inner wall.

The suction sound is related to proper door gasket sealing. Look at your door gasket all around the door to make sure it hasn't come out of place especially on the bottom of your door.

Your temps are 5-10 below Celsius? Whats it read in Fahrenheit?

Hi Jake,

Thanks for quck responce. Full model number is 253 9280812, serial number is WB90718794. The temp is about 20 F. The door seal is sagging a bit on the bottom, but its not affecting the seal and even if I hold it up as I close it, I don't hear the vacuum sound and see the door pulling up to the frame as it used to. It does ever so slightly pull up to frame, so I know the issue isn't the door not being closed. Further thoughts? Thanks.

Gene
