I have Kenmore gas dryer 70 series, model 110.97573220. It happened a few days ago. When I unplugged the power and tried to turn the drum by my hand, it makes a similar kind of high pitched noise (like whoooozzzzzcontinuously) but very light. However, this noise got much louder when I turned it on again. Without the noise, the dryer operates as normal, the drum turns and there is heat.

I'm not sure if it is an issue with motor starting to go bad or something stuck inthe fanblower as it seems to be similar problem someone posted before.

I'd like to try to open the fan blower up to see if it could be a similar problem, but I'm not sure how to disconnect the gas pipe from the dryer first. I will appreciate your advices on what to do to fix this buzzing noise and how to disconnect the gas pipe.

    Thank you very much

    Ted

I checked that link you posted, it does sound like what yours is doing now.

You have the same style with the lint filter on the top, check those links that Jeff posted in that link you posted here.

To disconnect the gas pipe, just turn off the gas supply to the dryer, you should have a shut-off valve near to that gas pipe, then just get a wrench and take off that gas line that connects to the back of your dryer.

If you can't locate the shut-off valve to the dryer, you may have to shut-off the gas supply to your home.

What can I say. You guys are so good. Initially, I didn't quite believe that the fan blower could cause this noise, but I gave it a try by following the instructions. I found debris such as nails, bolts, pens, pencils, coins in the fan blower. I removed them and cleaned the parts. It worked!!! No more buzzing noise. It's even quieter than before it started making the noise. The whole process took less than an hour.

Thanks for your valuable advices. Ireally appreciate. You just save me a few hundred dollars on a new dryer.
