Default Kenmore Elite Not Making Ice

My 3-year old Kenmore fridge just stopped making ice a few days ago. I've read several of the threads regarding ice makers and it seems most people out there know a lot more about repairing these things than I do. Temp guage says freezer is at 0; ice level sensor light blinks rapidly with no breaks. I looked under the maintenance door when it first happened and it looked like ice was in the tray; then, 2 days later, that dropped but it's the only ice that's been made for about a week. When the problem first occurred, the water dispenser was still working, but the water was not cool. The water is now as cold as it used to be.

Any advice, tips, or links to manuals would be greatly appreciated. Fridge should still be under warranty, but I've heard horror stories about going through Sears.

Thanks,
Brent

The only parts under warranty now for your model is the compressor/sealed system.

So the ice maker won't be under warranty.

Here is the main thread link that has the online repair manual in it:

Jake,

Thanks for the link to the manual. As mentioned in my original post, I have zero experience doing any kind of repairs like this. Should I be the one mucking around with it? Is it fairly straight forward? Where's the best place to purchase parts if I need them?

Thanks,
Brent

If you have zero experience and don't feel confident about doing it yourself, by all means contact a local appliance repair shop in your area.

You can order any part for any appliance here:

Jake,

Thanks again for the info. I was incorrect about the LED flashes...it actually is flashing twice with a 1 second delay. Also, when the freezer door is open and the flapper held down, the LED light does not come on at all. I've ordered the emitter/receiver boards; after reviewing the guide, these look fairly simple to replace.

Thanks,
Brent
