Question Kenmore Coldspot 106.56706500 won't dispense ice

I have a Kenmore Elite S/S that was purchased a little over a year ago. The ice maker just stopped working and I have no idea what to do now that the manufacturer's warranty is done. Basically when I push in the pad to dispense ice, it makes a small buzzing sound, like it's going to work, and then nothing. It's making ice just fine, nothing else seems to be wrong. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I took out the ice bucket, defrosted it, manually spun the arm and everything is fine. WTH???? Thank you!

When you say that the ice maker stopped working - is it still making ice and not dispensing - or is it full-on not making ice?

The icemaker didn't stop working, that works fine. It's the ice dispenser that doesn't work, I mis-wrote.(sorry!!) It won't turn. It makes a small buzzing sound like it's going to start and then nothing. THEN, when I try to fill a cup with water after I've tried to dispense ice, the water dipsenser beeps twice and I have to let off the water dispenser pad and then back on again before it will start to dispense water. It's like trying to dispense ice screws up the water part...but after I try twice the water works again. It's making plenty of ice, too...we just take it out with our hands for now and it refills every time. It's just the dispenser. The arm thing turns just fine manually so it's not that.

It sounds like your dispenser control board is malfunctioning. You can either buy the board and install it yourself or have a friend or family member install it. The board is about $117.00 and its on backorder, will take 5-6 days to ship.

Here is the one for your model:

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, Sears has a Service Contract called Service Smart, its about $180, but covers everything including your repair and continues on for a year. You can call 1-800-4-MYHOME to get more info about it.

Thanks, Jake, you are amazing. We broke down and made an appt. for the Sears guy to come out. I was hoping it was something we could easily (and cheaply) fix but I guess not. Practically brand new appliance and this happens...guess I won't be buying Kenmore again.
