Default Kenmore dryer takes hours to dry cloths

I started a new thread because my problem is a little different than the others listed here. I have had the problems already with that board burning up and I replaced it last year. My model number is 110 63942101 and yes is has the stupid even heat with auto sensor dry or whatever. Something else I HATE is that we can not turn off the wrinkle gaurd at all. This stupid thing runs for hours if no one is there to turn it off. But that is beside the point.
Since we have had the dryer my wife compains that it "takes forever" to dry the cloths. Well, on average it will have to run about 1 1/2 hours to dry a load. The auto sensor cycle has never worked for us. We have almost always used the timed dry. The auto sensor thing will shut off after about 1/2 hour and the cloths are still wet. I have messed with it several times and no luck. I moved the vent to a closer location also. I must say. the dryer is in the middle of my house and it is vented up the wall then over across the attic and out to the soffet of the house. I don't know if this is still what is causing my problem or what. It of course has several angle in it and I know that is a bad thing. Anyway, do you think I have a sensor or something still bad on it or what. It have been getting worse and now takes about 2 hours to dry towels. We called a repair man he told my wife it was probalby the timer. I don't think so but that is what he said. I was going to try to pull it out and take it apart again and find that paper in there with the tests on it and see if I can run those tests on it but it might be a few days before I get that done.
Thanks in advance for you help!
Rob

Q-Dryer takes too long to dry or multiple times to dry a load

A1-Pull the dryer out away from the wall. Unhook the vent from the dryer completely. Do not put anything over the dryer exhaust on the back of the dryer. Do a normal load with the vent unhooked. If it dries better or ok like this then the problem is in the dryer venting. Like a blocked vent pipe or a smashed or restricted vent hose.

A2 - If the vent doesn't make a difference, then check the blower wheel for excessive lint build up, check that there isn't anything stuck to the air intake baffle inside the drum, (i.e. the screen on the back wall of the dryer when looking into the drum). Check the lint filter chute for blockage. Check that the heating element isn't shorted to ground. Check the exhaust temperature of the dryer. A meat or pocket thermomter can be used for this. It should cycle between 120 degrees and 160 degrees. Check that the drum seals are not worn out.

Default SLOW drying dryer

OK I unhooked the dryer from the vent last night. I put a some old pany hose over the outlet and had my wife dry a few loads. They were small loads but it seemed to dry better. It is hard to tell. I was going to leave it off for a few days and let her try some larger loads and maybe a big load of towels.
I have taken the dryer a part a few months ago and cleaned out all of the lint and such. I have not checked the temp coming out. I will try to do that maybe tonight. I checked the heating element the last time I had it apart and it seemed fine. The last time was when the even heat board went out. Anyway, I will try to check the temp and let you know. Thanks so much for the help. It has been very frustrating. I'm now starting to wonder if it is something to do with the vent in the house.

Default slow drying kenmore dryer fixed...well sort of!

I took the vent loose and put a pany hose over it and we used it all weekend. It works great. Even the auto sensor dry works and it NEVER has sense we owned it. So last night I got to messing around with the vent. I ran a rag up the pipe as far as it would go and pulled out all kinds of lint. I went up in the attic and too the hose off the top of the pipe that runs up the wall. I am no letting it just vent into my attic. I know this is not a good idea but I don't know what else to do for now. I'm assuming your going to suggest I get one of those vent fan things right? I do have a long run with several 90% in it. I'm guessing it is about 25ft long and has like 4-5 90% elbows in it.
Rob

PS..thanks so much for the help.

When i go to customer's houses that have the long vent pipe runs like yours, i always suggest that they get a Indoor Vent Kit for the dryer, they sell them at Home Depot, Lowe's , True Value, Ace, any hardware store.

Default Kenmore dryer with a very long vent hose

Thanks for the reply Jake. Are you talking about one of those bucket things with the water in it? The only reason I am afraid to get something like that is that our laundry room is in the middle of our house and I'm afraid it will make it VERY hot in there. Is this true? I really don't know how they work. Would one of those fan things also do the trick? I hate to spend that much but if it will fix our problem I will do it. How long can I safely vent right in to my attic?
Rob
PS...I live in Missouri so it is very hot here right now. Near 100 everyday.

The water helps cool the air, but it will get warm in the laundry room.

No, i had a customer put that extension fan in his long vent duct, and it didn't make any difference, im sorry to say.

Wish i had another solution for you.

Default Kenmore dryer is there a way to disable the wrinkle gaurd?

I'm now wondering if there is a wire I can cut or something I can do to disable the wrinkle gaurd on our kenmore dryer? From the posts I have read some dryers have a switch that will alow you to turn this feature off. We don't have that switch but if I knew how to disable it I for sure would do so.
Thanks much for all the help and info. You have a great site here.

Just becareful Rob about cutting that wrinkle guard wire, if you do cut it, it may mess something else up.
