Hello all,
Our washer stopped on Sunday when it reached the spin cycle and after a bit of research on the net found that the issue was the lid switch. The plastic housing of the switch had come part where the two screws sink and hold it, dropping the switch to a point that it would not make contact. Manually engaging the switch seems to work just fine. I have a switch that should arrive tomorrow, was wondering if I could garner some install advice. It seems straightforward enough but access is the question. I read on a post somewhere that the top of the washer should be able to hinge upwards with the help of a pry from a screwdriver, gaining me access to replace the switch. Is this the case? If not, what would be the best way to proceed? Any advice would be appreciated, I was hoping to DIY this since most of the professionals in the area are unavailable for a few days. Thanks in advance - Koof |

Lots of info and pictures. Fairly simple job, but what's confused you is what confuses most people on these, the "getting inside" part. |

MadMax.
Many thanks for the help, I think that may have even been the site I was thinking of re: access but hadnt marked it as I cruised around looking for the solution. Looks like it should be doable. - Koof |

Wanted to check back in and offer my thanks.
Assembly instructions on applianceaid were spot on, completed the repair in ten minutes. Many thanks. One question though, when we cracked the body open, there was a nasty brown substance ringing the top of the tub, inbetween the plastic outer housing and the inner, we cleaned this out, but I was wondering is that normal? is there something that we should be doing from time to time to minimize that? the washer is five years old, so i guess it may just come with use? Thanks again, -Koof |
