Question Sears Kenmore – Elite “Sensor Smart” Gas Dryer - Intermittent Starting Problem

Sears Kenmore – Elite “Sensor Smart” Gas Dryer

Model # 110 70052991 – Digital control panel.

Purchased new approximately 4 ˝ year ago.

Intermittent starting problem.

Will start and run (under any setting) one or multiple times.

Will not start or run under any setting.

Push start button, nothing happens, after a few minutes delay, the unit starts and runs (sometimes).

If the unit starts, everything seems to function properly.

Using the diagnostic test pamphlet Tech Sheet, “the console switches and indicators test” – tests OK. All of the lights turn on and go off as indicated by the test instructions.

No error messages displayed on the digital panel.

Both the thermal fuse and thermistor seem to be with in the specifications indicate in the Tech Sheet.

I think the problem might be the Control Board.

Your thoughts and opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a control board problem.

I do recommend also a thermistor when you change that board as well, as those thermistors tend to read ok, but fail intermittently.

Thumbs up Thanks for the help

Thanks for the quick reply.

I took your suggestion and ordered both parts. Thanks also for the links to the Repair Clinic, where I purchased the parts.

Thanks again for the help.

>> as those thermistors tend to read ok, but fail intermittently.

Is there a way to test thermistor outside the dryer?

Jeff1 has a great test section on his website for all the tests including the thermistor test:

Question GE True Temp Convection Wall Oven

Jake

Thanks for your previous assistance. Looks like this is the year for my appliances to break, they are only five (5) years old and came with the new house!!

I have a GE True Temp Convestion Wall Oven (model jtp18wa3ww) that has an error message of (F7).

The error message only comes on intermittently when the oven has not been used for some time. If I push the clear button sometimes the message does not re-appear for days on end. Then other times, the message re-appears after a few hours or days.

I have followed the testing procedure of disconnecting the ribbon cable, waiting 30 plus seconds and re-connecting the ribbon cable. The error message re-appears after a few minutes.

I think the problem is in the Electronic Range Control (ERC). Toyr thoughts??

Thanks again

Georgew
