    Default Maytag - MDB8600AWW - QS300 - Flashing 9

    Model Number: MDB8600AWW
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 6-10 years

    Hi there,

Just recently our Quiet Series 300 (MDB8600AWW) dishwasher started to quit half way through a cycle and then the LCD shows a flashing 9 and the green rinse LED is lit.

I checked the ribbon cable connection to the controller card and it appears to be fine with no moisture visible.

I'm wondering if it's the door latch (my handle broke again anyway) or if it's the actual control card?

We've also noticed occasional moisture coming out of the front just below the control panel. Is this normal?

I'm wondering if I should scrap this dishwasher and purchase a new one.

    Thanks!

    Regards,
    Ed

    Hi Ed,

Yes, it sounds like your control board may be bad.

Whats the serial# of your dishwasher?

    Also how old is it?

    Hi Jake,

    The Ser# is: 13023938AV

I believe the dishwasher is about 4-5 years old.

Is it normal for the dishwasher to leak a bit of water out the front?

    Thanks

No, that would not be normal for any dishwasher.

Does steam come out with the moisture from the front out the top vent?

    Thanks Jake!

I don't recall seeing any steam and the moisture that does come out if very minimal and directly beneath the vent on the front access panel.

At first I was thinking that water was getting on the control board itself; however, I don't see any evidence of moisture there.

Ok, you may need to install a new vent seal for the vent.

Here's the seal for your model:

Oops, I should have waited five minutes. I just placed my order for the control card.

I'll give them a call in the morning and add the vent seal.

    Thanks!

    Jake,

Can you please tell me what the product nunber is for the entire latch assembly for my washer? The handle is broke (again) and I've read that the new complete assemblies are much stronger than the Maytag one that I've been putting on this thing.

I'll add that to my order as well.

    Thanks
    -Ed
