Default Amana side by side sxd23ve evap fan

I have a sxd23ve that frosts up.. The evap fan has a set of brown wires going to it. which seems to be a neutral. I only get about 60 volts to the fan.. but when I run a neutral dirctly to the terminal where the brown wires land the fan runs with 120v. To make this worse it is intermittant. where do the brown wires come from or goto?
one goes through the defrost switch while the other hits the evap fan. when the circuit is good the heater works and the fan works.
    thanks

    Hi,

It sounds like possibly either your defrost thermostat is starting to malfunction, that would cause the evaporator fan not to run properly and drop voltage.

You can get an ohm meter to check continuity on your defrost thermostat(while its frosty).

Here's the defrost thermostat for your model:
Defrost thermostat with wire harness, clip-on, L48-33 degrees
(The manufacturer has replaced part number 12017823 with this item, part number R0161088.)

Its located on your evaporator coil on the top, it just clips on.
