Default Maytag side by side refrigerator

I own a Maytag side by side refrigerator it's model number is PSD262LHEW. Lately, I have been having problems with both the freezer and the refrigerator sides. The freezer side now functions as my refrigerator because the original refrigerator side will not keep perishables. My freezer side won't get cold enough to make ice or freeze anything, but it functions well as a refrigerator now.. Today I removed the paneling on the inside of the refrigerator and noticed that the top layer of coils were frozen and the bottom coils were cool but not cold like they should be. I have enclosed a couple of pictures of the coils. I recently had the compressor replaced so I assume that shouldn't be an issue, hopefully. Anyway, here are the pics I hope you can help..thanks for your time.

    Hi,

Who installed your compressor? Was it under warranty?

The problem your having is either a sealed system restriction or freon leak, so whoever changed your compressor didn't change the filter drier or didn't vacuum the sealed system out properly, or left a pinhole leak in it, When I changed a compressor once, I did the same thing, and had to go back to the customers house to repair the leak and vacuum it out the recharge it with freon.

So contact the company that came out to change your compressor and let them know they need to come back to fix it.

    Jake,

How do I detect the leak if their is one. I don't want the clowns that worked on it before to mess with it again. They had my fridge for almost a month! Can I fix this myself? and could you give me a troubleshooting list to try to fix this problem. I am pretty good at figuring things out if you could help...Thanks for your time.

Unless you can use a turbo torch and weld copper or steel refrigerant tubing, you'll have to have someone do it with experience.

How old is your refrigerator? Is your compressor still under warranty?

Also, what does vacuuming it out mean? sucking out freon?

    No.

No, it means removing the air from the sealed system before you charge it with freon.
