Default Kenmore Trio 795.77573600 Er If

    Model Number: 795.77573600
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 1-5 years

Hello, I have an error code in my refrigerator display Kenmore Trio 795.77573600 (Just out of warranty) that reads "Er If". I can reset it disconnecting the unit, but it will come right back. I won't get the error if I turn the Icemaker off.

    Thank you

Do you hear the freezer fan running inside your freezer?

Yes. The fan starts and try for around 15 seconds (I said try because you can listen to it struggle trying to keep a normal speed, sometimes during this 15 second period sounds like almost come to a full stop), then itíll stop for around five seconds and then tries again. This cycle happen like 5 or 6 times and then the error code shows in the display.

    Ok,

    You'll need a new evaporator(freezer) fan motor:
Evaporator Fan Motor 4681JB1027C Order now for same day shipping. 365 day return policy. RepairClinic.com

    AND POSSIBLY

    A new control board:
Main Control Board EBR34917104 Order now for same day shipping. 365 day return policy. RepairClinic.com

80% of the time its just the fan motor, but I've seen a few need both.

    Jake,
Thank you for your reply, but I have another question about that.
Isn't that the same fan for the rest of the refrigerator? I ask because the bottom freezer and the top section are working just fine.

I may be confused, so the fan your talking about is just the ice maker fan only?

Yes, it must be. Because like I said the rest of the refrigerator is working fine. I downloaded the list of parts and a picture from Sears and I didn't see any other fan.

Thats odd, because I don't see any other fan as well.

I'm not sure what to tell you, you may need to contact Sears to come out to see whats going on.

    Default Similar issue

    Hello:

Sorry to revive an old thread.

I have a 795.77573600, that for a few days earlier this week made a noise similar to a fan rubbing against something. The sound was coming from the freezer. Well, noticed today that the unit was more quiet than normal and discovered a code: Er FF.

Looked online (here!) and discovered it was probably the evaporator fan motor.

I took the back panel off the freezer compartment and discovered the whole thing pretty well caked in ice. I got the evaporator motor out, took it apart and it was caked with ice inside.

I defrosted the motor, and although it is pretty well sealed, it will no longer run. I put a meter on the connection on the freezer and it was reading about 13v DC.

My thought is that the motor is fried.

I am concerned about the ice build up, and why it hadn't been defrosting properly.

I do remember recently noticing a build up of ice on the back panel, but just thought it was due to a 4 year old opening the freezer and not getting it closed again.

The freezer is running, and staying cold; enough cool air is getting into the refrigerator that it is staying fairly cool. However, the coils inside the freezer are caked with ice. The back freezer panel is not installed.

The circuit board was replaced a couple of years ago, when Sears was repairing them to make them Energy Star compliant.

So, my question is, is there any reason to believe that there is anything beside the evaporator motor in need of replacement?

Since it doesn't seem to be defrosting, does that mean that the circuit board needs to be replaced as well?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

    John

Its the controller on the side of the evaporator.
