Default [FIXED] Kenmore 70 Series 110.67732791

    Hello,

This problem relates to the thread that is now closed but just wanting to verify that our model is one that may have the same solution in regards to the bad control board.

It will only run while holding the start button down. If you open the door and hold the door switch down and try starting, the drum barely turns.

Appreciate any help you can give.

    Cheers,

    B

Do you hear any kind of grinding sound when the drum barely turns?

So if you let the start button go, everything stops?

No grinding. The other thing I forgot to mention was recently it would make a loud squeaking noise, but would lessen considerably when you took the lint trap out.

Yes, everything stops when you let go of the start button.

Ok, on this model you don't have the electronic control board or the motor/heater relay's that you could swap.

So it basically comes down to bad run windings on your motor.

This dryer was made in 1997, so I'd give alot of thought before putting a new motor in it, when other parts are wearing as well.

Here is the motor for your model:

Here is a link for help changing it:

    Thanks Jake,
Well something to ponder. Luckily, I work at a hardware store where we have access to appliance parts, so with my discount it may lower the cost some. I'll let you know if we can salvage.

Well I'm happy to say the new motor is in and working like a champ. Plus, I found about $3 in change once I got it all apart. Thanks again for all your help Jake.
