Greetings. And thank you very much in advance for any assistance with this issue.
Our Kenmore 665 has been operating flawlessly for several years, but recently its ran into some problems with its ability to drain and/or operate. On the normal wash cycle, the base fills up at the beginning with water as normal, but then the wash cycle fails to initialize. The red light on the "cancel/drain" button lights up and the dishwasher quits. At that point, if I were to push the "drain" button, I hear a few clicking sounds as if a motor has seized up and nothing happens. So then the only way to drain the dishwasher at that point is to do it manually by removing the drain hose from underneith.
Ive inspected the air gap and it seems to be free of any obstruction. Ive also inspected the check valve and as far as I know it seems to be in perfect working condition as well.
Thank you very much with your assistance as any advice with this issue is greatly appreciated.

Reason: Added model number
Hi Jake, thanks for your great advice... I checked the check valve, looked to be OK... So I pulled the inside of the dishwasher apart, and sure enough the grey piece was chewed up where the little spring thingy is supposed to fit in. Also found a plastic milk cap, a hard straw, and a cap from a Kool-aid bottle. Ordering my new impeller kit now, and assuming that will take care of it. I'll post a picture of the grey piece if I can figure out how! In the meantime, thanks again... left a tip for ya in the donation tip jar.
